Mi foddlonaf doed a ddelo

Mi foddlonaf, doed a ddelo,
  Os ca'i wel'd yr hapus awr,
Trwy ryw foddion crai neu chwerw,
  I fy mhechod fyn'd i lawr;
    Digon boddlon,
  Concro bai trwy
      ddwyn y groes.

Fe gawd croesau lle ni phechwyd,
  Pa'm gwrth'nebaf finnau'r groes?
Fe gadd Crëwr nef ei Hunan
  Ar Galfaria angeu loes;
    Yr un llwybrau,
  Rhaid im' gerdded ag Efe.
William Williams 1717-91

  F'enaid egwan paid ag ofni (Bod rhyw ddrygau ...)

I shall be satisfied, come what may,
  If I get to see the happy hour,
Through some means rough or bitter,
  For my sins to be subdued;
    Sufficiently satisfied,
  Conquering fault through
      carrying the cross.

Crosses were had where no sin was committed,
  Why shall I then resist the cross?
The Creator of heaven Himself got
  On Calvary the throes of death;
    In the same paths,
  I must walk as He.
tr. 2018 Richard B Gillion
